Display manufacturing spans television, monitor, smartphone and other panel categories, so its scale depends on the population being measured. The figures below separate panel shipments, end-device shipments, market-share estimates, company targets, forecasts, financial results and environmental metrics by period and geography.

Global Display Manufacturing Scale and Panel Shipment Trends
Large display and smartphone panel markets operate at different scales. The measures below should not be added together because they cover different products and definitions.
| Market measure | Period | Result | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| LCD TV panels | 2024 | About 242 million units; 3.4% year-over-year growth | TrendForce forecast |
| LCD TV panel area | 2024 | 8.6% year-over-year growth | TrendForce forecast |
| Smartphone panels | 2024 | 2.157 billion units; 11.4% growth | TrendForce industry estimate |
| Smartphone panels | 2025 | 2.093 billion units; 3.2% decline from 2024 | TrendForce forecast |
| Large display panels | 2023 to 2024 | 0.81 billion to 0.87 billion units | Omdia estimate |
The LCD TV unit figure is a forecast rather than a final audited shipment count, while the industry target was about 251 million units for 2024. The large-display estimate was cited in a company filing, and its definition follows that filing’s market context.

Innolux reported global end-market context rather than its own factory output: 2024 LCD TV end-market shipments were 205 million units, LCD screen end-market shipments were 136 million units, and notebook-and-tablet shipments were 312 million units. Their year-over-year changes were 1.9%, 4.1% and 8.3%, respectively.

LCD TV Panel Manufacturing Statistics by Supplier
Supplier targets show how concentrated the 2024 LCD TV panel market was expected to be. They are company targets reported by TrendForce, not realized shipments.
| Supplier | 2024 LCD TV panel target |
|---|---|
| BOE | 61.3 million |
| CSOT | About 48 million |
| HKC | 38 million |
| Innolux | 37.3 million |
| Sharp | About 20.3 million |
| AUO | 16.4 million |
| CHOT | 15 million |
Innolux was estimated to hold 15.0% of global LCD TV panel shipments in 2024 and ranked fourth. Separately, BOE, CSOT and HKC together accounted for 60% of large-panel shipment share in 2024; the annual-report statement does not further break out the denominator.

Demand was also shifting toward larger formats. The average global TV size was expected to increase by more than 1 inch in 2025, while global 2025 IT panel shipment demand area was projected to increase 5%.

OLED Monitor Manufacturing Growth and Supplier Adoption
OLED monitor manufacturing was expanding quickly from a small base. TrendForce estimated approximately 507,000 global OLED monitor shipments in the first quarter of 2025, a 175% year-over-year increase, and forecast 650,000 units for the second quarter.
For full-year 2025, OLED monitor shipments were projected at 2.58 million units, up 81% year over year, with penetration reaching 2% of the overall monitor market. Samsung held more than 22% of global OLED monitor shipments in the first quarter, while MSI held 14%; Samsung’s 49-inch models represented 40% of its own OLED monitor shipments.

Samsung Display reported a separate component-industry milestone: it had delivered 1 million cumulative QD-OLED monitor panels by May 2024 and partnered with monitor brands on more than 90 QD-OLED monitor products. It also reported a 79.7% share of the self-emissive monitor-panel market in the fourth quarter of 2023.
| Self-emissive monitor measure | Period or horizon | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Samsung Display market share | 2023 Q4 | 79.7% |
| QD-OLED monitor-panel deliveries | Through May 2024 | 1 million cumulative |
| Partnered QD-OLED monitor products | Through May 2024 | More than 90 |
| Market growth | Through 2029 | 12.3% CAGR forecast |
| Self-emissive share of monitor panels | 2029 | Up to 10% forecast |

Smartphone Display Manufacturing Shifts Between OLED and LCD
Smartphone display manufacturing shows a clear contrast between AMOLED growth and TFT-LCD decline in the 2024 estimates. AMOLED shipments reached 784 million units, up 26%, while TFT-LCD shipments were 761 million units, down 8%.
| Smartphone panel category or supplier | 2024 shipments | Change or status |
|---|---|---|
| AMOLED | 784 million | Up 26% |
| TFT-LCD | 761 million | Down 8% |
| BOE | 613 million | Supplier estimate |
| Samsung Display | 378 million | Supplier estimate |
| HKC | 228 million | Supplier estimate |
| CSOT | 215 million | Up 83.2% |
| Tianma | 158 million | Supplier estimate |
AMOLED accounted for 51% of global smartphone display shipments in 2024. Supplier totals are TrendForce estimates and the rounded category totals may not sum exactly.

The 2025 supplier outlook was mixed: BOE’s smartphone-panel shipments were forecast at 630 million units, 2.7% above 2024, while Samsung Display’s were forecast at 365 million units, 3.5% below 2024. These are forecasts rather than realized output.
Display Manufacturer Market Shares and Regional Production
Regional comparisons depend on both the product threshold and the denominator. For displays at least 9 inches, the 2024 market shares below are by revenue, not unit shipments.
| Manufacturer region | 2024 share of 9-inch-or-larger display-panel market by revenue |
|---|---|
| Chinese manufacturers | 58% |
| Korean manufacturers | 21% |
| Taiwanese manufacturers | 16% |
| Japanese manufacturers | 5% |

For global desktop-monitor panel shipments in 2024, an Omdia-based ranking reproduced in AUO’s annual report placed AUO at 30%, CSOT at 19%, LG Display at 18%, HKC at 15% and AUO at 13%. The supplied ranking contains AUO twice with different percentages, so both reported entries are retained without reconciling the apparent inconsistency.

Display Factory Capacity, Economics and Environmental Metrics
Company disclosures provide manufacturing-economics indicators, but they are not interchangeable with physical panel output. BOE reported RMB 198.381 billion in 2024 operating revenue, RMB 5.323 billion in net profit attributable to shareholders and RMB 47.738 billion in operating cash flow.

Innolux reported 2024 consolidated sales revenue of NT$216.510 billion and net income of NT$6.727 billion. Its sustainability disclosures also reported the following figures for the applicable reporting perimeter:
- Total greenhouse-gas emissions: 5.262 million tonnes CO2e.
- Water consumption: 15.1 million tonnes.
- Hazardous waste: 17,723 metric tonnes.
- Non-hazardous waste: 51,828 metric tonnes.

Samsung Display’s 2024 Sustainability Report reported 8,621,594 grams of OLED production in 2023, compared with 9,159,412 grams in 2022. It also reported 6,579.48 square meters of manufacturing-facility area in 2023 and stated that 100% of products were manufactured at company-owned facilities within its reporting perimeter.
