Display activity dominates AUO’s reported business: the display division contributed approximately 97.5% of consolidated revenue in FY2024. AUO’s current TFT-LCD portfolio spans 0.98 inches to 86 inches diagonally, a portfolio range rather than a distribution of shipments.
AUO also reported the following panel-industry KPIs for 2024:

- Full-year net debt-to-equity was 31.2%, with quarterly values from 19.4% to 33.4%.
- No customer contributed more than 10% of net sales in either 2024 or 2023, although this threshold disclosure does not identify the largest customer’s exact share.

AUO’s filing cited Omdia market-research estimates for the geography of large-sized TFT-LCD panel shipments in 2024. The definition includes tablet, laptop, desktop-monitor, LCD-TV and public-display panels.
| Geography | Share of global large-sized TFT-LCD shipments | Data status |
|---|---|---|
| China | About 62% | Omdia estimate cited by AUO |
| Taiwan | About 24% | Omdia estimate cited by AUO |

AUO Workforce and Training Statistics
AUO’s employee snapshots are reported as of January 31 for each year. The 2024 comparison includes BHTC and Avocor acquisitions, so changes in headcount, age and service duration are not a like-for-like organic workforce series.
| Employee measure | 2023 | 2024 | 2025 snapshot |
|---|---|---|---|
| Total employees | 38,828 | 41,574 | 42,136 |
| Production | 26,216 | 27,675 | 28,190 |

AUO Research, Patents and Innovation Statistics
AUO’s 2023 annual-report figures show a substantial research and intellectual-property base. These measures refer to R&D spending, applications and approvals rather than a single measure of commercial product success.
- AUO spent NT$13.2 billion on R&D in FY2023, equal to 5.34% of revenue.
- By the end of 2023, AUO had accumulated more than 31,000 patent applications.
- By the end of 2023, AUO had more than 23,900 approved global patents; applications and approved patents are different counts.
- In 2023, 97% of AUO’s R&D patents were invention patents under the company’s definition.
- AUO ranked third in the 2023 TIPO ranking cited by the company, covering invention, new-model and design applications.

One product-specific innovation metric concerns AUO’s SunCurva lightweight photovoltaic module. The reported specification was 3 kg/m² after replacing conventional front glass with composite material; it is not an AUO-wide product-weight average.
AUO Environmental Emissions and Energy Statistics
AUO’s 2024 sustainability measures separate Scope 1, Scope 2, electricity, renewable energy and company-defined reduction metrics. These measures should not be treated as interchangeable because their accounting boundaries differ.
| 2024 measure | Reported result | Change or qualifier |
|---|---|---|
| Scope 1 emissions | 67,400 metric tons | +0.90% year over year |
| Scope 2 emissions | 2,097,500 metric tons | -11.16% year over year |
| Electricity consumption | 4.37 billion kWh | -3.47% year over year |
| Renewable electricity | 0.292 billion kWh | +191% year over year |
| Electricity-savings rate | 4.72% | +43% year over year |
| Renewable share of energy mix | 6.67% | 2024 share |
Source: 2024 AUO Sustainability Report. Renewable-electricity consumption includes renewable-energy certificates according to the report.
AUO reported a 10.83% year-over-year absolute carbon-emissions reduction and a 16.95% reduction in emissions intensity in 2024. The intensity denominator is defined by AUO’s sustainability accounting, so it should not be inferred from the electricity figures alone.
The company also reported product and supply-chain outcomes:
- Cumulative life-cycle carbon reduction reached 13.29 million metric tons by 2024, above the 6.5-million-ton target for 2018–2025; this company-calculated life-cycle measure is not equivalent to Scope 1 plus Scope 2.
- Product shipping combinations and energy-saving design were associated with 1.43 million metric tons of annual carbon reduction in 2024, according to AUO’s product life-cycle estimate.
- AUO reported 380,000 metric tons of annual supply-chain carbon reduction in 2024; its boundaries are not the same as Scope 1 or Scope 2.

AUO Water, Recycling and Sustainability Outcomes
Water and waste figures describe specific process, site and program boundaries. They are useful outcome measures, but they do not represent all water withdrawn or all municipal waste.
- AUO’s 2024 process-water recycling rate was 94.7%.
- AUO’s 2024 sustainability news disclosure reported a 95% water-recycling rate and daily water savings of 270,000 cubic meters; the disclosure uses rounded figures and a site or program scope.
- Nearly 92% of waste was recycled in AUO’s 2024 circular-economy disclosure; “nearly” is the company’s approximate wording.
- Industrial waste plastic trays had a 96.4% recycling usage rate in the 2024 disclosure, a measure specific to those trays.

AUO’s reported value-chain carbon series compares 2024 with a 2021 base year. The figures below are Scope 3 categories selected and defined in AUO’s accounting, not Scope 1 or Scope 2 totals.
| Scope 3 category | 2021 base | 2024 | Reported change |
|---|---|---|---|
| Total reported Scope 3 reduction | — | — | 20.92% cumulative reduction |
| Use of products sold | 313.17 million metric tons CO2e | 242.25 million metric tons CO2e | -22.65% |
| Purchased products and services | 115.14 million metric tons CO2e | 93.10 million metric tons CO2e | -19.14% |
| Fuel- and energy-related activities | 47.93 million metric tons CO2e | 41.24 million metric tons CO2e | -13.96% |

AUO’s internal carbon price increased from NTD 1,258 per metric ton CO2e in 2022 to NTD 6,242 in 2023 and NTD 6,999 in 2024. Its internal carbon price per kWh rose from NTD 0.64 in 2022 to NTD 3.09 in 2023 and NTD 3.46 in 2024; both are internal planning-model values, not external market prices or regulated tariffs.
